Those of you who have been walking on Omotesando recently are sure to have noticed that our banners are up in their full glory. The photos here are the banners, you get an idea of their size when comparing them to our staff members holding them up.
The banners are a symbol of the partnership the Committee for American Shorts Shorts has with the Jingumae Regional Community Association, the Harajuku Police Department and the Harajuku Omotesando Keiyakikai.

The banners also symbolize the steady growth our festival is enjoying now in its second year.

In fact, the majority of our printing is all happening at the Kinko's around our main office‚“ around Japan. For a committee that seems to work 24 hours a day, having a 24/7 partner in business is truly a luxury for anyone who is starting a new business or doing creative work.

And don't forget to pick up a poster and a flyer of the festival on your way home!

The Committee for American Short Shorts is pleased to incorporate the works of well known Los Angeles mural artist Christophe Cassidy in this year's festival.

In Los Angeles, Cassidy is known for transforming barren walls in to colorful celebrations of our world today. And this year, with a grant from ASSFF official sponsor Evian, Cassidy has created a two meter by three meter mural which playfully looks at our health conscious, media conscious, cell phone crazed society today.

Shown here painting at his outdoor studio in Los Angeles, Cassidy will display his mural at all ASS venue sites. Cassidy's work can also be found on public buildings and street corners across Los Angeles, and at several privates homes from California to New York.

This year too, we have many student volunteers in Tokyo helping out with the film festival. The three students pictured here are Yohei, Makiko (a.k.a. Maki) and Tomohiko, otherwise known as Furufuru. They are all studying at top-notch universities in Tokyo and have experience helping out with last year's ASS. They will be in charge of taking care of visiting filmmakers during the festival. The three are also members of Model Production (MP), an English theatrical group. You can check out their activities at:
