11:00 Space The second day.

Photo After the heavy rain of yesterday, we were relieved to see some blue sky today. Like yesterday, even the first program of the day was crowded. It seems that there are more men and a greater variety in the age of the festival-goers in Nagoya than there were in Tokyo and Sapporo.

Photo We interviewed 2 people who had never seen short film before. Terumi Shinohara (left) has been looking forward to coming to the festival since she saw Mr. Tetsuya Bessho talking about the festival on TV. "I liked ELEVATOR WORLD the best," she said. "I found it very unique because the director pinpointed something that nobody pays much attention to. I thought, 'Yes, I think that's right. That reminds me that everybody does that in daily life.' Short films are very thought-provoking. I want to see more!" "What I like about short film is its fast pace," said Masumi Horino (right). "While I am wondering 'What was that?' the story keeps going. In Program B, my favorite one was MORE. It's true that when you look at a boring, everyday life with a different perspective, it could turn out to look more interesting. It was a deep film."
15:00 Space Interview 2

Photo Hayato Okuda (age 19) came to the festival with his sister. His favorite film was GOD@HEAVEN. "It was a warm film in which the story is told through the communication between a child and a dog," he said. His sister, Eri echoed her brother's opinion. "Both the story and the picture were great," she said. "The landscape was beautiful." Then we asked them why they liked short film. "It has a clear point within such a short drama," said Hayato. "The genre of short film is rich in variety. I enjoyed each one of them," said Eri.
17:00 Space A comment from the Executive Committee in Nagoya

Photo This was the first year that Nagoya has hosted the American Short Shorts Film Festival. But short film has actually attracted people's attention here since last fall when Tokai TV, a festival sponsor, broadcast a program about short film. In "Dream Cocktail for You: The World of American Short Films" celebrities such as a movie director Shusuke Kaneko, Gamon Kawai, Tamao Satou and Hidehiko Ishizuka talked about the attraction of short film. Mamoru Suzuki, a producer at Tokai TV said, "We rarely have this kind of festival in Nagoya. Even though this was the first year, many people came to the festival and answered questionnaires eagerly. I really appreciate it. I hope we can continue to host this festival every year."
