French Short Program<

French Shorts in Yokohama Brillia Short Shorts Theater only!
The French short film program from "Festival du Film Francais au Japon 2009" will be screened again on June 11th and 13th. The program features short films directed by French actors and features the participation of popular singer Bemjamin Biolay and the voice of Julien Boisselier.

13-year-old Abraham’s grades are bad and the school has pronounced him a failure. But he lies and tells his father that he can graduate.
A tragic comedy unfolds as a situation develops where he cannot take back his lies. This is a family drama that focuses on an Arab father and son living in Paris. This film received the Audience Award at Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival 2008.

Samir Guesmi

Born in Paris in 1967, Samir has been working as an actor in films, theater and television. Recently he appeared in Arnaud Desplechin’s “Un Conte de Noel” (2007). This is his directorial debut.

Katia Lewkowicz

Katia is active as an actress in film and television in such works as “La maison de Nina” (2005) and “Prête moi ta main” (2006). This film is her directorial debut and was cultivated from her experiences working in film.

Gautier About

Gautier majored in film history at New York University and after returning to France immersed himself in the study of acting. In the meantime, he has been active as an actor in television, theater and film, and in 2004 directed his first short film, "Satchel Document." He is currently working on a full length film.

Nicolas Engel

As a child, Nicolas spent time in Taiwan and London admiring musical comedies. In 2005 he debuted as the director of a short film. He shows his distinct style in forming the story and music for this film.

The story of a young French left-wing woman.
She knows that the left-wing party is losing the election, and is shaking and crying with anger. The next day she rises up for the sake of her child…
This handsome monochrome film closely resembles works by Philippe Garrel with a style unlike that of newcomers to film and won the Grand Prix at the International Festival of Documentary and Short Film in Bilbao 2008.

Caroline Deruas

Born in 1978. From a young age Caroline was captured by the passion of films, and served as an assistant director to Philippe Garrel. In 2005 she played the role of Leah in “Regular Lovers.”

A large meteorite falls over Henri’s head. From then on he exists exactly 91cm out of place from his body. When opening a door, sitting down or even answering the phone, he has to perform these actions from 91cm away.
A surreal comedy from a fresh animator active in the TVCM.

Jérémy Clapin

After graduating from London’s School of the Arts, Jérémy worked as an illustrator for The Liberation (French Newspaper). In 2004 he presented a short animation film which was highly acclaimed. He is currently active in the field of commercial animation.
