Q1

How can I participate in the Opening Event?

A1

Every year, we reserve seats for general audiences to be a part of the Opening Event, and the festival newsletter subscribers receive a priority entry to the drawing. *The newsletter is available only in Japanese.

Q2

What is the ‘Audience Award’?

A2

The Audience Awards are selected by the festival audiences and the winners will be given 200,000 yen.

Q3

Can I attend the Award Ceremony?

A3

The Award Ceremony requires the special invitations from the committee, so if you wish to attend you can apply for the lottery that is only provided for the festival newsletter subscribers.

Q4

Are there any chances for me to talk to filmmakers?

A4

Yes, you can ask questions directly to filmmakers during the Q & A sessions or after the screenings at lounge space. Filmmakers are willing to answer any questions and take your thoughts on their films. Don’t hesitate to ask!

Q5

I cannot speak English well. Would anyone help me ask questions to filmmakers?

A5

Sure, our bilingual volunteer members will assist you.

Q6

Can I drink and eat inside the venues?

A6

Laforet Museum, Harajuku and Omotesando Hills Space O do not permit any drinks or foods inside the venues, but Brillia Short Shorts Theater and TOHO CINEMAS Roppongi Hills allow drinks and foods purchased at their concession stands to bring in.

Q7

I would like to take my kids along to the festival. Would that be ok?

A7

Yes, but you need to be careful which program you like to watch. Some of our films include some violent and/or sexual contents. Please refer to the festival panphret or catalogue to see which film has the “mature mark (!)”. You can also ask the festival staff.

Q8

When and where can I get the numbering slip?

A8

We pass out the slips at the ticket counter 15 minutes prior to the first screening of the day.

Q9

What is “short film”?

A9

All the film we screen is under 25 minutes including the end credit. However, other festivals accept 30, 40 minutes pieces as short films.
