Issues related to global warming tool center stage in the discussions at the G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit held in July 2008. World leaders endorsed halving global greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 as a shared long-term target. In order to achieve this target, Japan has set a goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 60 % to 80% so as to realize a low carbon society.

Short Shorts Film Festival in collaboration with Team-6%, a national energy-saving campaign initiated by the Japanese Ministry of Environment, created "STOP! Global Warming Competition" in 2008. We will continue our effort to highlight the problems of global warming through short films of its theme. Let's get together in Tokyo and become part of the solution!!
