2015-04-30

The genius of Tekken’s creative talents blossomed with the ‘flip book’ style animation film “Pendulum.” After it was unveiled on a television variety show in 2012, moving many viewers to tears, the animation went online. Gaining over three million views, the video was spread largely by word of mouth, receiving much praise both at home and abroad. In 2014 it was announced that the animation would be turned into a live-action film.

Since his success, Tekken has been inundated with offers from all angles. In amongst the fuss he has continued, however, to depict what matters most to him, creating the film “SLIDE.” This is the first purely original film to be produced by Tekken in three years!

鉄拳アー写Tekken
Born May 12, 1972. In September 2007, he began working for the company Yoshimoto kogyo. The film “Pendulum” was created and shown as part of a competition organized by a Japanese variety show on television in 2012. Taking the song “Exogenesis: Symphony Part 3 (Redemption)” by British rock band MUSE as it’s backing track, the animation depicts the story of a married couple through the years, shown at the center of a pendulum swinging from left to right. After “Pendulum” was uploaded to YouTube it swiftly attracted much attention from around the world. It even made it to the ears of the MUSE band members, and was picked up and used as the official music video for their song “Exogenesis,” gaining further exposure across North America and Europe. Making the most of this opportunity, Tekken has been working increasingly in his ‘flip book’ animation style, and is currently focusing on production aspects.
