Acceptance of submissions closed on December 1st, 2007. All films are currently being reviewed and notifications will be sent out via e-mail during the end of February. We will notify all filmmakers regardless of whether their film is selected for the festival or not.
To avoid any miscommunication, if you have changed your e-mail address after registration, please provide us with a new e-mail address immediately. In addition, if you do not receive a notification e-mail by March, please send us an inquiry at submission@shortshorts.org including your name and the title of your film.
Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia will be introducing a new "STOP! Global Warming"Competition. Global Warming is a serious problem that affects the world we live in. To commemorate our 10th anniversary, Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2008, along with Team-6% Committee (Ministry of the Environment) will start accepting short film submissions with the theme of "STOP! Global Warming" from around the world.
Short Film Theme:
Global Warming must be the main theme. Along with a correct understanding of global warming, the filmmaker must have the intention to prevent global warming through his/her film.

- First Prize 1 Film (Cash Prize:600000jp yen)
- Audience Award 1 Film (Cash Prize:400000jp yen)
Details on awards will be announced at a later time.Each award winner will be determined by a jury of Japanese and foreign celebrities and intellectuals.

Formats:
All (Please note, however, that submissions must be sent on DVD and, if selected, filmmakers are required to provide an NTSC Digi-Betacam cassette or NTSC Betacam SP if no Digi-Betacam is available)
Running Time:
25 minutes and under. No exceptions. Running time includes closing credits.

English subtitles required for submissions with language other than English or Japanese
Notification if your film is selected:
Selected films will be decided by February 15, 2008 and a notification will be sent via email
Requirements for selected films (if your film is selected)
Filmmaker agrees to provide all the following materials after the selection announcement :
- Festival Agreement signed by Producer and Rights holder
- NTSC Digi-Betacam (preferred) or NTSC Beta SP cassette of your film. PAL tapes and tapes with squeezed images will not be accepted. (English subtitles required for films with language other than English or Japanese.) Your tape will be returned by July 31, 2007.
- Script or Dialog List, which corresponds exactly with the film. (Used for subtitles)
- Production still as a high resolution jpeg (minimum 300 dots per inch)
- Photograph of the director as a high resolution jpeg (minimum 300 dots per inch).
- Biography of the director in English
- Synopsis of the film in English
- Production notes in English
- Cast and Crew lists
- A complete list of festivals and awards you have won for the selected film and past films
- Music Cue Sheet
*All above materials are non-returnable EXCEPT for the Digi-Betacam cassette.
Filmmaker agrees to grant the festival the right to use clips and/or titles and information from the film/filmmakers for promotional purposes in any and all media.
Filmmaker agrees not to screen the film in Japan in any media before August 31, 2008.
Please note regarding submissions:
Japanese Premieres Only: Your film must not screen in Japan on any media, either commercially or in a festival or otherwise, before August 31, 2008.
If your film is selected, you must agree to withhold it from exploitation on all media in Japan until after August 31 2008. Films that have screened on the internet still will be considered Japanese Premieres, unless they have appeared on a Japanese-language site or a site based in Japan.
Rightsholder agrees to license¡¡to the festival rights of the film with specificed conditions in the territory of Japan in case the film is selected for an award. (Rightsholder will be paid license fee.)
Please clear copyrights of any and all music and clips before submitting your film.
All above materials are non-returnable EXCEPT for the Digi-Betacam cassette and Beta SP tapes.
Incomplete films will not be selected
If you are submitting more than one film, you may include them all on one tape or DVD, but please label the tape clearly and remember to complete separate submission forms for each film.

Please do NOT send press kits or any other materials with your submission. Any extra materials will be discarded.
The "STOP! Global Warming Competition" film may be screened as a special screening at a venue authorized by the Committee for Short Shorts Film Festival before the festival begins.
SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Complete the on-line submission form in English. When you have completed the form and submitted it online, a Submission Receipt will be generated.
Incomplete submission forms or forms completed in any language other than English will not be considered.
Please complete a separate entry form for each film you are submitting.
2. Send us your Submission Receipt and NTSC or PAL DVD of your completed film.
Screeners will not be returned.
