"Shorts!": Pre-screenings of Academy Awards(R) nominated short films
Prior to the 80th Annual Academy Awards(R) on February 24, 2008, pre-screenings of the nominated short films will be held at Samuel Goldwyn Theater, Los Angeles on February 19th. Some of the nominated filmmakers will be invited for discussions. If you're interested in checking out some nominated films in short film categories, this would be the best opportunity!

The 80th Annual Academy Awards(R) is coming up! (February 24th)

Since the Awards Ceremony of SSFF & ASIA 2007, we have been waiting for this moment for so long…

The 80th Annual Academy AwardsR ceremony will be held on February 24, 2008 in Los Angeles, California! We would like to pay a special attention to the animated short film category this year. The Grand Prix winner of SSFF & ASIA 2007, "Printed Rainbow" directed by Gitanjali Rao has been in a pool for an Oscar nomination!

The 78th Academy Award Nominee in the 'Best live action short film' category, "Cashback" is back as a feature version, "FROZEN TIME"!
In 2005, when the 'Best live action short film'Oscar award went to "Six Shooter," Sean Ellis' "Cashback" was merely a nominee.

BUT! Now it's back as a feature length film re-titled "FROZEN TIME" and will be shown in Japan starting from January 26th. It is a cute love story, which revolves around the "frozen time".

"What if time around me stops, but mine doesn't?"

Let's find out what miracles and romance may happen in this new film!

New Year Greeting from the festival committee

The 10 Anniversary!!
Happy New Year!

This year, the festival will celebrate its 10th anniversary! Our festival committee kicked off the New Year today and started in preparation for the 2008 edition of the festival. We hope to provide the audience with much more excitement and high quality short films from all over the world this year.

We also aim to invite as many filmmakers and guests as possible to provide more opportunities for both filmmakers and audience members to exchange thoughts and culture. So, stay tuned for the 10th anniversary adventure!
