“Kodansha Cinema Creators Lab”, a video creator support project that started accepting submissions in August 2022 with the slogan, “We will give you 10 million yen, so why not make a short film?” Initially, we received 1,103 submissions (Japan: 903 / overseas: 200) for the four months up to November 30th.
The Kodansha Cinema Creators Lab committee held multiple selection meetings and narrowed down the submissions as follows:
Total number of submissions: 1,103 projects
Number of projects that passed document screening: (initial): 128 projects
Number of projects that passed document screening: (secondary): 78 projects
Number of projects that passed document screening (final): 24 projects ( Japan: 18 / Overseas: 6)
Applicants of 24 projects who have passed the document screening (final) will be asked to proceed to the first interview (online).
Successful applicants will be notified of the first interview (online) by e-mail by January 31st, 2023 (Tue) 2pm JST. Subsequently, after multiple interviews (online/real), we plan to select the final 3 projects. Please note that we will not be able to respond to individual inquiries regarding status of the submitted pitches, selection process, etc.
