About Short Short Film Festival The Establishment of the STOP! Global Warming Competition
STOP! Global Warming Competition in its 2nd year!
Last year, Short Shorts Film Festival (SSFF) in collaboration with Team-6%, a national energy-saving campaign initiated by the Japanese Ministry of Environment, created a new “STOP! Global Warming Competition(S!GW),” a competition of short films on the theme of global warming and its prevention. Along with the International, Asia International and Japan Competitions, the “S!GW” became SSFF's 4th competition.
Because Global Warming prevention not only requires individual action now but also an on-going effort, we believe the many filmmakers as well as the audience can be enlightened in the problems of global warming by watching message-oriented moving image which is one of the fundamental aspects of filmmaking.
Last year the very first “STOP!Global Warming Competition" was very successful and this year we continue the competition with more than 300 short film entries from around the world.
Short films are now attracting attention worldwide both as a vehicle for universal communication and as a creative way to express thoughts and ideas in a limited time frame.
Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia established the “STOP! Global Warming Competition” with the belief that it will prove to be meaningful, and that through film culture, people all over the world will become more aware of global warming. We hope that this will lead to more in-depth discussions and the exchange of ideas worldwide. We feel certain that through the film festival, appealing to people in and outside of Japan for their cooperation to stop global warming will be an important step for the future of the world.
