Set in an affluent suburb of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the film follows Dunya on the day of her graduation party. Hours before her esteemed guests arrive, all the domestic help take off – fed up with “Madame” Dunya’s antics. Aided only by her two sidekicks, can Dunya throw a flawless fete and protect her hard-earned social status?

Raed Alsemari
Raed Alsemari is a filmmaker from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He’s currently based in Brooklyn, NY. His short film Dunya’s Day premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Jury Award for International Fiction. Before pursuing his MFA in Filmmaking at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Alsemari completed his BA in History and Literature at Harvard University with a focus on Postcolonial Studies."
