Special Award Commemorative Event for “Lalabear,” a horror short produced by family video creator “HIMAWARI Channel” with over 4 million subscribers!

Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia (SSFF & ASIA), an Academy Awards®-accredited festival and one of the largest international short film festivals in Asia, has decided to present the Special Award at its Autumn Film Festival (opening Thursday, November 5, 2026) to the horror short film “Lalabear,” created by Fukushima-based family creators “HIMAWARI Channel.” This award honors outstanding works that significantly contribute to culture, industry, and local communities through short films while shaping the future landscape.

An original IP work by “HIMAWARI Channel” (boasting over 4 million subscribers), this fantasy horror film is directed by member HIMAWARI MAMA and stars “Ma-chan” and “O-chan.” It was highly acclaimed not only for its exceptional direction and intricate world-building that transcend typical content creators, but also for pioneering new visual storytelling as online family creators and expanding the audience of short films across generations.

To celebrate this award, a screening and talk event featuring the creators will be held at Shibuya Sakura Stage on Saturday, November 21, 2026.
