[REPORT] BIG CROWDS COME OUT FOR OUR FINAL DAY OF SCREENINGS - ITSCOM HALL, FUTAKO-TAMAGAWA RISE, FINAL DAY OF THE FESTIVAL! 06/24

2018/06/25

HI EVERYBODY!

A little rain to start the day but a good turn of the weather & being that it’s a Sunday in suburban Tokyo, we had a full house of kids & their parents for the KIDS PROGRAM!

CINEMATIC TOKYO PROGRAM

Our final day started with the CINEMATIC TOKYO PROGRAM with 4 sets of guests making an encore appearance after the screening in Laforet, Harajuku last week. (Please see report of Laforet 06/16 for a full report)

The program ended with the TOKYO CINE-MAGIC short “SHAKESPEARE IN TOKYO” which had its World Premiere also at Laforet last week. It was my great pleasure to have worked on this Tokyo Govt. & SSFF co-production. The short can be seen on-line starting tomorrow on the TOKYO x SHORT SHORTS PROJECT web-site!

So now it’s down to the last 3 programs of the festival. The KIDS PROGRAM, NON-FICTION COMPETITION PROGRAM supported by Yahoo Japan Corporation, & the ANNIVERSARY PROGRAM 1 will finish the day & our 2018, 20th Anniversary festival!

We’re so blessed always with the best short movie fans, new & repeaters. The outstanding audio/visual operators. And every year, we couldn’t hold the festival without the most excellent volunteers.

Here are some pictures from throughout the festival.

So with much love, thanks all for coming out to see the best short films from around the world & most of all, a ginormous THANK YOU to all the filmmakers who came from around the world to show your films & participate in our festival.

KEEP MAKING FILMS!

WITH MUCH LOVE & RESPECT!

SEE YA!

DJ JOHN

The festival really kicks into high gear with the annual sweepers. Directors! Pick up the trash!

It’s not all work! By the way that looks like this years’s grand prix winner of the very 1st  “GEORGE LUCAS AWARD,” YEE WEI CHAI (in the white shirt) for his film “BENJAMIN’S LAST DAY AT KATONG SWIMMING COMPLEX.” And he doesn’t know he’s won yet!

Cinematic Tokyo and Tokyo Cine-Magic cast and crew! So many Q&A’s, so much fun!

I have no idea!

Our most excellent volunteers!

Don’t ask.

YES! A “tai-yaki” treat from a fan.

Short film fans come in all ages.

I think they have the wrong idea. I’m just the MC!

MC jumpin’ for joy!

See you next year!
