Wartime Japan. Fourteen-year-old Shizu’s diary begins to intertwine with the imagination of writer Osamu Dazai. As Shizu’s daydreams and Dazai’s writings gradually blur the boundary between reality and fantasy, Shizu comes to believe one morning that she has lost something precious. She then leaves reality behind.

Yuria Matsushita is a Japanese filmmaker, screenwriter, stage director, and art director whose work bridges cinema, music, performance, and visual art. She presents interdisciplinary works in Japan and abroad. She studied Digital Cinema at the Graduate School of Waseda University. Her works include the feature film A Story Sewn and Bound with a Red Thread and the short film MEAN ANGEL, which was screened at Nippon Connection 2026.
