As snowboarding became integrated into massive sporting events, it sparked numerous conflicts, tensions, and troubles among riders who cherish a culture of freedom. While the general public tends to focus on superficial appearances and behavior—often viewing snowboarders through a biased lens with comments like “Typical snowboarders”—behind the scenes lie power struggles within massive organizations, as well as the deep anguish and true nature of the riders themselves, torn between their own identities and the pressure to win. We created this film driven by a strong desire to uncover that truth. This film takes the approach that “music speaks for the characters,” which is why we enlisted “GOMESS,” an artist who garners immense support from young people through the power of his poignant lyrics. For GOMESS and several other cast members, this was their first time filming in the mountains. While experiencing intense excitement and stimulation from shooting in the harsh yet majestic snow-covered landscape at an altitude of around 2,000 meters, they poured their raw emotions into the camera. This film serves as a pilot (Proof of Concept) with an eye toward a feature-length adaptation. The feature film will delve even deeper into the essence of snowboard culture and, in tandem with the culture’s diversity, fuse a variety of musical genres to serve as the characters’ “voices.”
