Aida Captijn
Born in Geneva, Aïda Captijn is a Senegalese-Dutch filmmaker raised between Switzerland and Dakar. A 2025 graduate of HEAD – Geneva, she explores female narratives through genre cinema and a decolonial lens. Her film Vampire Décadence screened at NIFF 2024, and Dëmm at Kurzfilmtage Winterthur 2025.

For me, it’s the aesthetics of the 'Dëmm-women'. That’s definitely where I had the most fun! I would also say the visuals, which were shot by the talented Diara Sow and enhanced by our equally talented colorist, Claudia Maneka Maharaj. Finally, I’d highlight the African mythology brought to life in the film through the 'Dëmm-women' and Mati's own transformation.
