Two young women in their twenties, bound by friendship, quietly endure the weight of conservative family expectations. As one faces an arranged marriage and the other pressure to immigrant, they resist, finding fleeting freedom in each other while questioning duty, identity, and the possibility of choosing their own futures.

Socheata Van began working in film in 2015. She worked as assistant director on films including White Building and Onoda: 10,000 Nights in the Jungle.

She directed short documentaries such as The Hunter (2015), Neighbor’s Underneath (2016), and Trapped (2017).

Fresh as Daisy, developed at Purin Pictures Short Film Camp, is her debut fiction short.
