Shinsei Galverse is a love letter to the golden age of anime. At a time when the aesthetic language of 90s animation has been lost to modern digital production, Director Ayaka and the team made it their mission to bring back that feeling. Ayaka personally redrew hundreds of frames of animation to capture the distinctive qualities of the era: thick linework, light bleeding through cels, and the warmth of a handcrafted image. These are techniques that have effectively become extinct in contemporary anime production, and mastering them required an obsessive attention to detail. This is a film made by artists who love anime and its history, and that dedication is visible in every frame.
