When I was given the theme “TOKYO,” what first came to mind was the various emotions and intentions gathered in this city. I was born and raised in Tokyo myself, but as the term “moving to Tokyo” suggests, many people come to this city carrying their own hopes and struggles.
Throughout my life, I have been deeply impressed by friends who moved from rural areas to Tokyo, each of them holding dreams and goals close to their hearts. While living in the same city, everyone looks toward their own future—I have come to feel this atmosphere as one of Tokyo’s defining expressions. Having witnessed such people, Tokyo to me is a place where countless thoughts and feelings intersect, and where one is constantly led to reconsider one’s own existence.
I portray through image and sound the figure of a person living within Tokyo while searching for their own yet-unfound “color.” This is not the story of someone special, but rather a feeling that surely exists within many people living in this city.
I hope this can become a small source of hope for those who are also living in Tokyo while carrying something within themselves.

Hajime Takahashi

Based in Tokyo, he is a creative coder and media artist.

Since his time at Musashino Art University, he has been engaged in both the study of art in public space and the creation of media art works (particularly video art and audio art), exploring the possibilities of artistic expression from both “concept” and “object” perspectives.

After graduating, he has expanded his creative practice across digital fields such as video editing, game development, and metaverse space production. In the XR/metaverse domain, he received a category award at “ClusterGAMEJAM 2022 in AUTUMN,” a game and virtual space creation contest held on one of Japan’s leading metaverse platforms, cluster. He also won the Grand Prize for his AR music experience project “Hyper Music Venue,” which transforms urban space into a live performance stage, including an AR live work set in Shibuya Scramble Crossing. These works have been recognized for their ability to connect space and experience through XR expression. Furthermore, he was selected as a finalist in the Site-specific AR category of “NEWVIEW AWARDS 2024,” a global XR creative award, further expanding his practice in location-based AR expression.

In recent years, building on his experience in XR and interactive content production, he has incorporated generative AI as one of his expressive tools and expanded his practice into moving image work. He has been selected as a finalist in the AI video contest by AOI Pro., won awards at the GMO DESIGN AWARD 2024 (an AI-based design competition for young creators aged 18–29), and received the top prize in the video short form category of the 4th AI Art Grand Prix, which broadly calls for AI art works. Through these achievements, he continues to gain recognition in AI-driven image and design fields.

In his visual practice, he focuses not on flashy visual effects but on making internal emotions and subtle fluctuations visible. He positions AI not as a mere automatic generation tool, but as an “extended apparatus that responds to human inquiry,” and maintains human-led direction across composition design, color control, editing, and music structure.

At the intersection of art and technology, he continues to explore how inner emotions can be made visible.
