Cinema Traveler
In a back alley in Tokyo, Bessho stumbles upon a dilapidated, unfamiliar small cinema. The film playing is “The Man Who Travels Through Movies”. As the screening begins in the empty theater, Bessho notices a strange button attached to his seat. Pressing that button draws him into the cinematic world unfolding beyond the screen.
A romantic film in Paris, a car chase in New York, a group dance from an Indian movie, a World War battlefield, a Hong Kong action film, the interior of a spaceship—Bessho races through various cinematic worlds, as if touring the globe and the history of cinema itself.
He, who was supposed to be watching the screen as an audience member, eventually becomes the protagonist of the story and delves deeper into the films. A “cinematic journey” filled with love for cinema and a spirit of adventure, traversing the countless worlds that lie beyond the screen.Hiroki Yamaguchi / 00:05:59 / Japan / / 2026

Cinema Travelers 2
Two weeks have passed since then. At the closing ceremony of the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2026, that weathered little movie theater reappears before Bessho as he delivers his remarks on stage. The film being screened is “The Man Who Travels Through Food”. Leaving the frozen audience behind, Bessho steps into the theater and is once again drawn into the world beyond the screen. A ramen food stall, a New Zealand ranch, an Italian wine cellar, a fishing boat off the coast of Norway… Bessho is swept up in a journey through food cultures around the world. Transcending countries and cultures.
The sequel of “Cinema Traveler,” connecting people through the allure of food. Following the acclaim of the previous film, this sequel was produced in only two weeks for the festival’s Closing Ceremony.Hiroki Yamaguchi / 00:05:06 / Japan / / 2026
