SATURDAY 06/06, SHIDAX CULTURE HALL: 4th program of the day - Music Shorts B with 3 guests.
2015-06-06

For the Music Shorts Program B, we had the pleasure of having a chat with 3 guests; 2 music artists & 1 director come out for the post-screening greeting.

1st up was singer/songwriter Maco whose song “Arigatou” was made into a sweet young-love short film by music video director CHOKU. Maco is an up-and-coming young artists who has her 1st headlining live show coming up on the 14th of this month at popular live house “Liquid Room” in Ebisu. Definitely lots to look forward to from this promising young musician.

Next was another singer/songwriter, DJ & producer Maho Fukami whose song “Hikari” was made into a bittersweet lost love short film that takes place over 1 summer in a young woman’s life. Multi-talented Maho has several projects always in the works & we hope she’ll be making her own visual versions before too long.

Last up was director Akihiro Toda who made the music short “Eyes” based on & inspired by a song titled “Inori (Pray)” by singer/songwriter Nao Watanabe who debuted in 2003. Akihiro told the audience that his shoot in a snowscape in northern Japan was delayed when a heavy snowstorm struck & they weren’t even able to get to their location. They did manage to finish the shoot & the resulting short music film is stunning & suits the storyline about a young daughter reuniting with her mother after being estranged due to her father’s untimely death.

All very well made with an obvious desire to serve the music visually & provide another way for the musicians to express their art.
