[Report] June 12th / SHIDAX Culture Hall
2015-06-13

Today in SHIDAX Culture Hall, we screened shorts from Asia International & Japan Competition Group C, E, and I, and International Competition Group F and D.

In Asia International & Japan Group C, we had five directors greeting the audience.
Director Kahoru Kuwahata from “Between Times”,
Director Dong-ha Oh from “Witness”,
Director Hayashi Mori from “Sunday”,
Director Joseph Chen-Chieh Hsu from “The Lobster Kid”,
and Keisuke Toyoshima from “Sukebo”.

Kuwahata created the short from her experience, when she visited Holland and felt the way the time is passing is different. Also Oh created his short from his experience that he often feels “the world is unfair” because “people get judged by their appearance” in Seoul.

The short that was made within the TV program “Omokuri-Kantoku”, Mori mentioned “I’m getting many positive commnets from mothers around me. It’s surprising. I guess I understand women well”.
Having several fathers for each day could be a new way of family….MAYBE!

And Hsu, who just had graduated this May, shared that the short came out from his experience and childhood memories; his nickname was “lobster” since he gets so red with just a sip of alcohol, and actually he had met a monk when he was lost in the station.
He also told the audience that he is shooting in Tokyo for his next short, I cannot wait to see his next work.

To answer the question why MICRO from Def-Tec turned out to play a product demo sales, who wanted to become a Rakugo performer, Toyoshima said “I wanted him to play a role that is totally different from himself”.
MICRO is coming to Harajuku tomorrow to greet the audience, so whoever missed today’s screenings, please come and join us!
