Only 3 days left for the SSFF2015! Today, in BSST we had guests for every program!

Ms. Wu said it was her second time to work with Director Midi-Zhao. The last film they worked on together was shot in Myanmar, and they had to do the shooting while avoiding the eyes of government. However, this film, “The Palace on the Sea” as shot in Kaosiung. It was also the first time they had a budget (!) for the film, so it was very comfortable not having to worry about threats, Ms. Wu says.

Director Ken Ochiai is also participating in the LEXUS SHORT FILMS project. The film “Dance Dance Dance” was a collaboration of Japan and Belgium that was realized due to the offer from a Belgian band called Arsenal. It was Director Ochiai says it was his first time to work on a magical realism film. The audience was fascinated by the magnificent mixture of the visual image and music.

For International Competition E, Mr. Niko van den Brink, Director of “Interval”. The story of the film was written by one of his schoolmates during film school. The film is about a shooting in a high-school, but actually there is a bigger theme about the feeling of being misplaced and going through puberty.

Director Loeloe of “ONOMATSIKA (My Name)” wanted people to look back on what a “name” is to them. “Blind Tasting” was the first time Director Hosoi directed a comedy film.

During the International Competition C, Director Keiran Watson-Bonnice of “Caravan” joined us. Actually, the children in the movie were his son and his nephew. The shooting took place in his property, where the children always played, so they were comfortable with the camera. Director Bonnice had worked on Documentaries and TV commercials for 10 years now, but this film was a way for him to return to the place he started, using his documentary techniques to shoot a narrative film.
