Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia (SSFF & ASIA), the first Academy Awards® accredited film festival in Japan and one of Asia’s largest international short film festivals, will begin accepting submissions for its 2016 edition on August 1, 2015 (Sat).
The Call for Entries spans multiple competitions: Official Competition (International, Asia International, Japan), the environmentally themed Save the Earth! The “STOP! Global Warming Competition” was created in 2008 in collaboration with Team-6%, a national energy-saving campaign initiated by the Japanese Ministry of Environment. In 2013, we changed the name to “Save the Earth! Competition,” and have continued to gather excellent short films with themes relating not only to global warming, but also to various other environmental issues such as recycling, pollution, conservation and global warming.
Since 2011, SSFF & ASIA has collaborated with Digital Hollywood, a leading university for IT and digital content learning, in presenting CG works at the festival. In 2012, we established the CG Animation Competition in order to showcase the very best quality full CG animated short films from around the world. We are searching out works that offer new kinds of expression that utilize the cutting edge CG techniques.
