Today was a sunny and warm Sunday here in Yokohama

On the 3rd day of the Film Festival, there were 5 screenings; the Fashion Shorts Program, Focus on Quebec supported by Saguenay International Short Film Festival, Focus on UK, Asiana International Short Film Festival from Korea and the Music Shorts Competition-A.

The Quebec program was especially popular, and we had Director Etienne Desrosiers, from “Mirror” as the guest. The film was themed on the “turning of age” of a teenage boy. Every little thing that happened around him during what seemed to be a normal summer vacation came as such a big impact on him. Something that the boy didn’t even know what it was would wake within himself. Actually, the shooting took place 7 years ago, and a 15-year-old Xavier Dolan plays the lead role. Director Desrosiers says that he was chosen among 70 other actors. He asked the actors to act minimally to express the relation between human and nature. Director Desrosiers also says “I like to open many doors and not close them”. He currently is working on a documentary film featuring internationally known architects.

In the Music Shorts Competition-A program, we had Director Ninomiya “NINO” Daisuke and the dancer OBA from “Place For Freedom”, Director Eiki Yasuda from “Schoolgirl of Rouge” and Director Hidenobu Abera from “Don’t give us bouquet!”. Many fans came to see the screening.

OBA was the samurai in the music film. Director “Nino” thought he was the only one that could be right for the part. In the last scene, OBA bangs down the sword, and the end-roll starts. Actually, it wasn’t meant to be like that. Something happened and all energy went down in the studio. Director “Nino” says it must be because of OBA’s energy.

Today we also had Kumamiki, a popular YouTuber to make a report of the event.
