Jurors Comment - CG Competition supported by Digital Hollywood

While it has been about 20 years since it has been possible to study CG production at schools, it has also been about the same amount of time that hand-drawn animators in the U.S., Canada, France, and Japan started to employ digital processing instead of film. During this time a lot of film makers created short films and other kinds of media, with the techniques eventually taking root in Hollywood and the film industry. CG film making has spread across the world, and I felt a sense of nostalgia while watching the submissions this year. Watching shorts like those from Europe ended up defying my expectations, while overall I got the impression that CG film making has taken hold around the world, with young film makers exhibiting distinct characteristics from one another. While a great experience to be able to judge the films, it was a difficult decision.
