Final day of SSFF & ASIA 2013 in Osaka

The second and the last day of the festival screenings took place at Knowledge Theater of the Knowledge Capital, a place where new intellectual values will be created through a fusion of human creativity and technology. A part of Ume-Kita Grand Front Osaka, Knowledge Capital is a place with company representatives, researchers, creators, and others who share the same aspirations as well as with manifestations of brilliance transcending fields of expertise and large numbers of participating members of the general public will be fostered. SSFF & ASIA 2013 is proud to present best of the short films in this new capital of Osaka.

The final day started with Program C at 10h50, with films like "Kotobuki/Tu Us" which was the Best Short award of Japan Competition, as well as the Grand-Prix short of 2007, "Printed Rainbow," an animation short from India. Other than these two, the program included shorts from Korea, New Zealand and South Africa.

Festival Director Seigo Tono welcomed a special guest today at 17h10, in Program C. Director and screenwriter from Osaka, Mr. Sugil Kim were called up to the stage along with Tono to talk about short films in general. When Director Kim was asked his most favorite short in the program, he said, "Invitation... it was almost perfect in every sense. I said (almost), because as a competitive filmmaker, I am too envious to say the film was perfect!" Mr. Kim also said that important and fun aspect of short film is that audience can imagine the world outside of the screen frame. In other words, audience should imagine what's behind the images and story. Festival Director Tono also mentioned that short film can be shot in one location with a simple story, but with an excellent idea. Good example was "The Platform."
The two seemed to have talked forever on short films, but the time was too short.

The festival ended today in Osaka, but we shall return here in 2014!
